Anthony Donald Sillaro, 82, of Lakewood, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2013 at the Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Don was born in Montclair and raised in Verona where he graduated from Verona High School in 1949 and from Seton Hall University in 1954. He was an officer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Sunoco and Exxon as a trainer and instructor of Development and Procedures. He went on to become a well- respected business owner in Wayne and Livingston, where he established his own dealerships for 25 years. He retired in 1980 and went on to become a Real Estate agent. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Kelly Council #3632 of Verona of which he served as the Grand Knight. He also served as the Faithful Navigator of St. Issac Joques Assembly and as District Deputy of the State Council of NJ. Don was also a Eucharistic Minister and Head Usher at Lady of the Lake RC Church of Verona. He was known to volunteer at the Verona Ambulance Rescue Squad and to help at Church, where he could always be counted on to willingly give of his time to help others.
Don was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Theresa and his 2 children Donnie and Lisa. He is survived by his dearest companion Paula Teitjen of Toms River and the Sillaro family in Italy.
Relatives and friends may visit on Monday June 17th from 6 to 8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday June 18th at 9:15 AM at St. Luke’s RC Church, Toms River. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair, NJ.
