Anthony C DeFilippis (Tony) died peacefully May 31, 2021, a fitting coincidence as he was a US Army, World War II Veteran and died on Memorial Day. Anthony was born June 13, 1923, in Bound Brook, NJ to Carmine and Maria DeFilippis. He lived most of his life in Newark, NJ, where he met his wife Angelina Nittoli DeFilippis, who predeceased him in 2004. In 1993 they moved to Holiday City South in Toms River, NJ, where Anthony resided until 2014 when he became a resident of Atrium Senior Living in Matawan, NJ.
While living in Newark, Anthony was employed over forty years by Keystone Folding Box Co., located in the city.
He is predeceased by his parents and brothers, Leibert, John and Joseph. He is survived by his two sons, Robert and his wife Suzanne, Anthony and his wife Anita; his four grandchildren, Robert, Scott and Todd DeFilippis and Heather Sperduto; and his five great grandchildren, Katelin, Connor and RyleighDeFilippis and Luke and PJ Sperduto; as well as several nieces and nephews. He cherished his role as the family patriarch. For nearly a century he captivated the hearts of all he met.
A viewing will be held Sunday, June 6, 2021, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered Monday, June 7, 2021 at 10 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
