Anna Lisa Camporeale, 41, of Beachwood, passed away at home Saturday night, surrounded by her loved ones. She bravely battled her illness for many years, always with grace and a smile that would light up a room. She grew up in Toms River and attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, Monsignor Donovan High School, and graduated with honors from Georgian Court College in 2001. She worked for 10 years as a special education teacher at Oak Street Elementary School in Lakewood, where she loved her students and made a positive impact in their lives. She provided her students with food and clothing; she made sure each one of them had Christmas presents, and even prepared an annual Thanksgiving feast for her class to enjoy.
Anna married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Jason Spiecker in 2003. They spent many years battling her illness together and dealing with the heartache of miscarriages before they were finally blessed with the birth of their son, Josef Corrado Spiecker, in 2011. Josef was her greatest joy, and she loved and cherished him more than words could ever express.
Anna loved her home, which is one of the original century-old Beachwood homes that she and Jason restored to its original beauty. She loved spending time with her mom and sister who were her best friends, going shopping, decorating her home, and vacationing, especially cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean. She spent all her childhood summers in the Puglia region of southern Italy, where her parents had immigrated from. She was very proud of her Italian heritage, spoke the language fluently, and remained close with all her relatives in Italy.
Anna’s passing reunited her with her beloved father, Corrado “Mr. C”, whom she missed every day since his passing in 1995. She is survived by her husband, Jason Spiecker, her son Josef, her mother, Giuseppina Camporeale, and her sister and brother-in-law, Raffaella and Jeff Greene. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family in NJ, NY, and Italy. Her dog, Stella, also misses her greatly and never left her side during her toughest times.
A viewing will be held at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home on Main Street in Toms River on Friday, August 28th from 5pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toms River on Saturday, August 29th at 8:45am, with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
