Alfredo Faggello, age 93, of Toms River, New Jersey (formerly of River Edge, NJ) passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 peacefully at his home. Born in West New York, NJ to the late Giovanni and Maria Faggello. Al had attended Memorial High School in West New York, then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1951 where he proudly served his country. After his service Al went on to work in the marble business, until 1968 when he began his career as a Bergen County Sheriff Officer. Retiring in 1988, he later moved to Toms River in 1995 with his late wife Stephanie.
Al was a life member of the American Legion Post 226 River Edge, NJ and Knights of Columbus also of River Edge, NJ. He was a member of the Gooney Bird Detachment, a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church and former parishioner of St. Peter's RC Church, River Edge. Al enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Fort Myers, FL with his late wife. He enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City on Sundays and placing his daily bets at the OTB and the NJ Lottery. Al liked to spend his days in the garden planting his basil, tomatoes, arugula and parsley. Most importantly Al loved spending time and taking care of his late wife Stephanie of 56 years. He also enjoyed assisting any and all his neighbors in Holiday Heights.
Uncle Al, the Kiddies Pal, is survived by his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family and many friends at the Hairport Salon and Rosato's Pub. Al was predeceased by his siblings, John Faggello Sr., and Lucia Cotter.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 9:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, with interment to follow to the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
