She was born on February 28, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Frank and Domitila Leon. She graduated from Fowler Elementary in 1959 and from Tolleson Union High School in 1964 as well as taking classes at a variety of community colleges.
She was a stay-at- home mom for many years before returning to work at a variety of companies doing electrical/mechanical assembly. She retired from working and enjoyed many years shopping, lunching and spending time with those she loved.
Martha was married in 1970 to Fernando Zubia and while they divorced, they maintained a strong friendship, that helped foster a strong family unit with their two daughters, Rebecca Zubia and Maria-Elena Zubia-Hernandez. In addition to her two daughters her memory will be cherished by her brothers Frank, George, David and Robert Leon and by her twin sister, Gloria Leon Felix. She has left a loving legacy with her grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Alan Jr, Chris, Mariah, Bella and Ysela and with her son-in-law Alan Hernandez. She had a large extended family and circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
Martha never met a stranger, was always up for a chat and a laugh. She loved going on the turn around casino trips sponsored by the local VFW to support her brothers. The phone was never far from her hand talking to friends and family.
