Robert E. Smith

Robert E. Smith, age 57, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was born in Wesson, Mississippi on May 7, 1957 to father Sebron Smith and Gertha Mae Patterson. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an active member of The Masonic Composite Lodge 108. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as manager of customer service for 20 years. Prior to that he was employed with Lucas County Job and Family Services where he became president of AFSCME Local 544 during his 10 year tenure. He was involved in various political and social organizations through the years. Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, step-father Terry Wagner, sisters, Albertha Rayford, Carolyn Smith, Nora Jean Smith and aunt, Ruby Paterson. Robert is survived by his loving family; wife, Lisa Smith, children; Jemael (Cara) Smith, Reva Smith, Joey Alahmad, Anthony Smith, grandchildren, Dominic, Tyler, Savannah, Lennon, Jaycee, and Zachariah. He is also survived by his siblings, Floyd (Pearl) Smith, Jonas (Betty) Smith, Estella Peyton, Velma Smith, Leslie (Bo) Bradenberry, James (Marilyn) McNair, Derrick (Prisicilla) Smith, Victoria (Michael) Young, Seretha (Eric) Smith, Marquita Smith, step-mother Mary Alice Smith and host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville Rd (419-473-1301) on Wednesday, September 3 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
