I will be forever grateful for Mr. Pheil's quiet and patient support as I struggled through his math classes and the extra attention he gave while I sat in the many detentions he proctored. Decades later I was surprised and privileged to serve alongside Bill as volunteers for a local financial institution.  I will miss our conversations. 

Mr. Pheil was an excellent teacher and coach.  I learned a great deal from him both inside and outside the classroom.

mr pheil taught me in 1966 at gilman school. algebra 1 was a challenge to me. i never mastered it or any other math subject but he made me feel welcome in class and helped me to muddle by.  he was one of the more pleasant teachers i met in my years at gilman. he seemed a very nice man.

I met Bill several years ago when I was a part of the Friendship Players. I always remember his patience, humor, and kindness.  A man who garnered respect and love. He will be missed.

We met Bill & Barbara many years ago when we joined the Towson JCs. They were a kind and caring couple we really enjoyed being with. We cherish the many fond memories of our time together. Tom & Barb Fallon

My sincere condolences to Bill’s son and daughter, who have lost a very good man and father. Bill and I began our teaching careers together on the same day at Gilman in 1963 and worked through the new teacher trials together. I always enjoyed working with Bill, and we occasionally stayed in touch after he moved over to BL for a distinguished career down Roland Avenue. I used to chat with him at Maryland Athletic Club in Timonium after we were both retired before I moved to Pennsylvania. He will be remembered as a fine coach, teacher, and loyal friend.

Dear Walker and Jennifer.
I am so saddened to hear of the passing of your father.  He was such a good friend and colleague for many years, and the personification of the word "gentleman".  I will never forget sitting with him on the bleachers at Towson University years ago and discovering that not only were we both from St. Petersburg, but were born in the same hospital. He took great pleasure  in giving me news of our home town, and I got great pleasure from receiving it.

I fondly recall the Towson JC haunted houses @ the fair grounds several years as well as the upper school haunted house in the mansion for lower & middle school student. Bill Pheil was personable, caring, and a true role model for so many young people. I had the pleasure of getting to know him as we worked on the same committee over the 2012-13 school year. Bill left a lasting impression on me in our short time together. Following his retirement, I'd look forward to seeing him come back to "pace" the processional for each year’s commencement.

What a joy it was to sit next to Bill at Encore rehearsals and sing. Our adventures at Strathmore last Spring will always be remembered. My condolences to his family.

To Walker and Jennifer, 

Please know that I am deeply saddened by the loss of your father. 
He  was one of the finest gentlemen that I have ever encountered, and I am proud to have been able to have him as a friend.  Though it was a lifetime ago, I fondly remember being part of his first class at Boys' Latin when I was a Freshman (Geometry).  It turned out to be one of my all-time favorite classes.  

He had his quirks, like all of us, but he always had time to lend an ear or shoulder when needed, and I am honored to (hopefully) have him consider me a friend. He made Boys' Latin a better and kinder place, and I know he was extremely proud of the two of you.  

Cockpit in Court 2015. Mr. Bill and I had a small scene together in Throughly Modern Millie. I always will remember this scene. Aside from being in several other shows together through the years, he was always so enthusiastic about being onstage. He was always so nice to me and to everyone in the cast. He was always happy to be there. It was his home. We will miss you. Thank you for the memories. Rest  in Peace Mr Bill.
