Missy earned her nickname growing up the lone girl or “little miss,” on the family farm, surrounded by four brothers. She married her high school sweetheart and together they raised a family of, again, four boys. Missy devoted her life to family and community, participating in 4-H and the Optimist Club, training and working as a nurse, and volunteering at Clynmalira Church. In her 93 years, Missy never said no to a request for help, a stage and a spotlight, or a hug. Though she lived a life full of theatrics, service, travel, and adventure, she will be best remembered for her kindness and loving heart.
Missy is the devoted wife of the late James H. Yates, Sr; beloved mother of James H. Yates, Jr. and his wife Nancy, Thomas H. Yates, Donald H. Yates and the late William H.
