Madeline Lee Healey died today, April 5, 2013 in Towson, MD. She was 92. She is the daughter of the late Alva F. Duvall and Nannie L. Duvall. Born March 19, 1921, in Baltimore, she lived there until her marriage in 1943 to musician William H. (Bill) Healey, a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Band. The couple lived in Annapolis from 1943 to 2000 before moving back to Baltimore County. Their 63-year marriage ended in 2006 when Mr. Healey passed away at the age 89. Madeline’s first job was a medical secretary position at the Marine Hospital at Johns Hopkins, followed by a secretarial position in Baltimore with the Salvation Army. She was a full-time mother to five and homemaker until the early 1970’s. Upon her return to the workforce, she was a secretary to several Maryland State Delegates and Senators, and during the administration of Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel was Executive Secretary to First Lady Barbara Mandel at the Governor’s Mansion in Annapolis. She is a former President of the Ladies of the Annapolis Elks Lodge #622, Secretary/Treasurer of the U.S. Naval Academy Band Alumni, President of the Boumi Temple Band Aides, and officer in the Naval Academy Band Wives Club. Mrs. Healey is survived by 5 children, Ron Healey (Timonium, MD), Donna Healey (New Orleans), William H. Healey, III (Havre de Grace, MD), Dennis Healey (Tampa, FL), and Cheryl Healey Timonium, MD); also survived by 7 cherished grandchildren and 8 adored great grandchildren; sister of the late Alva F. Duvall and Robert G. Duvall both of Baltimore, MD.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 11 to 12PM at which time funeral services will be celebrated.
Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Annapolis, MD.
