Lucille A. Brashear (nee Carpenter), 91, Parkville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William C. Brashear. Lucille leaves behind her son, Stuart C. Brashear, and his wife, Marcia, both of Charlotte, NC, her beloved grandchildren Kyle (Alina) Brashear and Melissa (Karthik Krothapalli) Brashear, her sister Eleanor (Kemp) Ensor, brother Phillip (Debbie) Carpenter, nieces, and one nephew.
Lucille “Lu” was predeceased by her father, George P. Carpenter, her mother, Mary E. Alban, and her sisters, Patsy R. Williams, and Mary E. James. Lu graduated from Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD in June 1950.
Lu was a talented seamstress, making clothes not only for herself but for others as well. She especially enjoyed making clothes for her two grandchildren. After Bill died, Lu worked in a local fabric store, and thoroughly enjoyed helping customers pick out patterns and fabrics for their projects.
Lu was also an avid gardener. Lu’s last job was at a local Walmart store working in their garden shop. Lu loved tending to the plants, even bringing home the “unwanted and half-dead” plants which she somehow brought back to life.
Lu was a woman of faith. She was dedicated to the “mission” in Baltimore and spent many hours there. She often brought clothes for their clothing closet and orchestrated celebrations among the recipients. Lu was a long-time member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Timonium, until her health made it difficult to travel for services.
The family will receive friends at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Rd, Timonium, MD on Saturday, February 10 from 10 to 11am at which time Lu’s life will be celebrated at 11am. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Maryland SPCA Inc, wwww.mdspca.org.
