Julie Lillian (Tivy) Boney, born August 29, 1944, in Bethesda Maryland, was the first of three children born to the late Cleveland and Gloria Tivy. She attended Pine Forge Institute (later named Pine Forge Academy), where she met and later married LaRue Robinson.
In 1969, Julie graduated from Columbia Union College and lived in the D.C. area until she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to attend graduate school at the University of MN. While in Minesota, she met and married Murray Boney. This union was blessed with a son, Cleveland and a daughter, Crystal.
Julie enjoyed a 30-year career as a technical writer in Minnesota, and then in California. She retired in 2007, but continued working, first as a substitute teacher, and then as an adjunct professor of English at Argosy University in San Bernardino, CA.
As Julie studied the Bible, she discovered that by confessing Jesus as her Savior and making Him Lord of her life, her salvation was assured (Romans 10:9,10). She realized that through the new covenant, there was nothing she could do to make herself fit for heaven. Through His mercy and grace, Jesus had done it all for her (Titus 3:3-7). In 2008, she joined End Time Ministries, a non-denominational, Bible-studying, Bible-believing church. There she developed a deeper understanding of what it meant to be born again (Romans 7:4-6).
On March 1, 2025, Julie went home to be “present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5: 6-8). She leaves to cherish her with many loving and joyous memories, her loving husband Murray Boney; beloved children Cleveland Boney and his wife Kimberly Boney, and Crystal Hemphill and her husband Anthony Hemphill; devoted sister Janice Goe, brother Henry Beck, and sister the late Joi Tivy; adoring grandchildren, Christopher Hemphill, Cameron Hemphill, Carter Hemphill, Ashley Hemphill, Alex Boney and Braxton Boney; and dear great grandchild Ashten Hemphill.
Julie’s life will be celebrated at Kansas Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 4491 Kansas Avenue, Riverside, CA 92507 on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in Julie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741
