Joseph William Thompson

On November 15, 2021 Joseph “Bill” Thompson, Jr. beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Thompson and father of Gregory F. Gallagher and his wife Janice. Devoted brother of Barbara Takesian and loving son of the late Joseph and Josephine Thompson.

Bill graduated with honors from Loyola College and entered the military. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant-Armored Tank Division stationed in Germany. His post was at the German Czechoslovakia border during a very tense time. Upon returning home, Bill began working for Montgomery Ward at their Monroe Street store. He advanced rapidly and finished a 37 year career as the East Coast Import Distribution Center Manager. He retired at 62 and spent his retirement with the love of his life, Jane. They enjoyed 48 years totally devoted to each other; each day a special one. Bill will always be remembered as humble, caring and devoted. He will be missed by all.

Family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 West Padonia Road Timonium, MD 21093 on Monday from 2-6 P.M. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. Interment in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
