Gloria F. Martino, age 97, of Timonium, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born on February 1, 1927 at her home in Paterson, New Jersey the youngest daughter of Mary Lalla and Gloriano Di Iorio of Fraine, Italy. She was predeceased by her loving husband Louis E. Martino, her beloved sisters Connie Minnis and Josephine Post, and her brother-in-law Ronald Martino.
Gloria attended St. Joseph Parochial School, graduated from Eastside High School, and attended Sherwood School, a junior college, all in Paterson.
A caring, loving, and busy person, she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at her home parish of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Texas, Maryland, as well as at Mercy Ridge Retirement Community. She was an active volunteer with various groups at Mercy Ridge, especially proud of helping with choosing scholarship recipients from among the young people who work there and welcoming new residents through Monday Connections.
Gloria and her husband traveled extensively over the years, spending time in Hawaii, regularly in Florida, and touring Italy, a favorite destination. An avid reader, and writer, Gloria spent twenty-five years as a columnist for the Towson Times. Her many passions include bridge and games of strategy. She was a board member of the local bridge group called "BIDS". Gloria enjoyed membership in many golf groups over the years, playing well into her late eighties.
She is survived by two sons, Louis E. Martino, Jr. (wife Johanna); Robert Martino (wife Mary); daughter Michelle Naumann (husband Marvin); loving grandchildren Nicole Martino (husband Chris Irwin); Rachelle Martino; Elena Martino; Alexis Mallalieu (husband Richard); Robert Martino (wife Emily); Natalie Martino (partner Justin Buenaflor); Danielle Naumann and Matthew Naumann; great-grandchildren Clementine Martino; Siena Mallalieu; Arthur Irwin ; and Luca Buenaflor; and two loving nieces Mary Joan Matarese and Pamela Lindenberger.
Gloria leaves behind many good friends and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. on Tuesday September 3rd from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 4th at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cockeysville.
Interment to follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
