George was born in Agona Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana to the late Mr. John Nortey Annoon and Lady Hanna Bedu-Addo, both of blessed memory.
George lived most of his life in Accra, Ghana attending school there, receiving his high school education from Accra Academy and graduating in June 1969. In 1972, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science and Sociology at the University of Ghana and four years later, his Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. In 1987, he completed his post graduate level in Senior Management at the Institute for Development Policy and Management at Victoria University of Manchester in England.
“Daddy B”, as he was affectionately called by many, was an accomplished attorney for more than 30 years, representing clients in court in both criminal and civil cases and performing supervisory and administrative duties in the Ghana Civil Service. He also worked in various ministries including the Ministry of Finance, Tourism, and Energy.
He married Esther Annoon in 1976 and they had four children. George is survived by his devoted wife, Esther, daughter Nana Ekua Annoon and her husband Francis Hagan-Aggrey, daughter Naa Dickson and her husband Norbert, son Nii Annoon and his wife Miranda, son Kweku Annoon and his wife Abiana; dear brother of Margaret Swatson, Major Jean San Noi Annoon (RTD), Stella Annoon, Rosamund Annoon, Roger Annoon, Philomena Annoon, Nii Noi Annoon, and Irene Annoon; treasured grandfather of Kofi, Maame, Michael, Jesse, Bridgette, Caleb, Joshua, Johnathan-George, Phoebe-Joy, and Tyson; cherished uncle of Vida and Rita Agbodjah, Randy Yorkow Frair & siblings, Cynthia Annoon & siblings, Nortey Annoon & siblings , Ivan Nortei Annoon & siblings, Paa Kwesi Antwi-Agyei, Adelaide Adentwi & siblings, Barbara A. Yankey & siblings, Henry S. Arthur & sister, Gilbert Coffie & siblings, Alfred Kwamina Amoako & siblings, Ebeneza Bedu-Addo & siblings, Hagar Boateng & siblings.
Following a successful law career in Ghana with his last position as the Secretary to the Council of State, George and Esther moved to the United States with their children. There he continued doing what he loved which was volunteering his legal knowledge on behalf of at-risk youth in the Baltimore court system, writing all kinds of short stories, supporting his church community, cooking and staying abreast of current events and politics. He also loved spending time with his family and always enjoyed running errands with his grandchildren, taking them back and forth to school and buying them the most thoughtful gifts from time to time. George had a blessed life with family, friends and always had God’s word in his heart to live by.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Lemmon Funeral Home, 10 W. Padonia Road, Timonium, on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM EST. A Funeral service will be held at this same location on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 9:00AM to 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium, Maryland.
