Edward Lee Hudgins Jr. passed away on July 4, 2023. He was born to Edward Lee Hudgins, Sr. & Leona (Van Pelt) Hudgins in Washington DC, on October 1, 1931. After graduating from McKinley Tech High School, he married his high school sweetheart Lucia G DiCamillo. They started a family in Colmar Manor, Maryland, and 10 years later, with 6 kids, moved to the new home they built in Bowie, Maryland. He worked in his father’s grocery store, Eddie’s Manor Market and served in the Maryland National Guard. He was involved in organizing kids sports in Colmar Manor and was elected to the town council. Later he became a route salesman for County Fair Bread which became Wonder Bread & Hostess Cakes where he worked for 37 years until his retirement. He became a member of the West Gate Masonic Lodge in 1959 and was the Worshipful Master of the lodge in 1965. He was also a member of many other organizations including the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Scottish Rite, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Bowie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Lucia G Hudgins.
Edward was the devoted husband of the late Lucia Giovina Dicamillo Hudgins; beloved father of Edward L Hudgins III, (Talia), William A Hudgins, Sr. (Lynn), M. David Hudgins (Michelle), John M Hudgins (Kim), and the late Thomas E. Hudgins and Joan M. Hudgins; dear brother of the late Joan and Robert Hudgins; cherished grandfather of Jennifer L. and William A. Hudgins, Jr., Robb Stevens, Jessica Clark (Steve), Samantha Bohlman (Cory), Emmeline Williamson (Ryan), Devin, Allegra, and Sophia Hudgins; great grandfather of William, III, Isabella, Cole, Rori, and Nevan Hudgins, William and Hailey Clark, Blair and Corie Bohlman, Everett Williamson, and the late Margaret Samantha Bohlman.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Edward L Hudgins JR will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 7210 Race Track Rd, Bowie, MD 20715 on August 5th at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the service.
