Catherine I. Jacobs

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Irene Jacobs (nee Leech), who passed away on December 15, 2023, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, Maryland. Preceding her in death, was her husband, Norman William Jacobs (Jake), her father, Maurice Leech, and her mother, Elizabeth Houck Leech and her siblings: Charles Leech, Betty Stoll, and Edward Houck Leech, her daughters: Peggy Barshinger and Barbara Jacobs. Also preceding her are her 3 grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.

Catherine is survived by her children: Mary Catherine Lorenzo, Penny LeCates, Norman Charles Jacobs (Robbin), Jeannie Wilder, and John Jacobs. Surviving also are her 10 grandchildren. At age 66 she was blessed with her last grandson, Christopher Jacobs (Lovie). She is also survived by 10 adoring great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Catherine attended St. Joseph Catholic School and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church, Cockeysville, Maryland. She retired from Catholic Charities in 1985 after many years working at St. Vincent’s, a job she dearly loved. After the death of her husband, she worked as a private nanny caring for Andrew Hundt. She celebrated her 100th birthday opening dozens of cards and gifts from family and friends.

As primary caregivers, it should be acknowledged that John and Christopher took very good care of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in Catherine’s memory to a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, 10 W. Padonia

Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from

4PM to 8PM, where Catherine’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21 at 10AM.

Interment: Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens will be private.
