Betty was born and raised in Baltimore and graduated from Towson High School in 1956. She then attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where she earned a B.A. in Education and participated in water ballet. Following graduation, she taught fourth grade at Wellwood Elementary and Rogers Forge Elementary. Betty met her husband, the late Thomas Foell, in Bermuda during a vacation with mutual friends. Thomas owned Foell Brothers, a family butchery which operated in downtown Baltimore for several decades.
Betty was a member of Towson Presbyterian Church, an avid tennis player, gardener, mother, grandmother, and lifelong friend. The doors to her home were always open: she hosted countless parties throughout the years where family and friends gathered. She enjoyed travel and went to several different countries, such as Peru, Croatia, Hungary.
Betty is survived by her three children: J.D. Foell of Ocean City, MD; Lisa Black of Asheville, NC; and Amy Foell of Long Beach, CA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Dylan, Kayla, Ethan, Hannah, and Abigail. They will miss her more than words can describe.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
