Steven Joseph Moody, 75, of Tualatin, Oregon, passed away on September 30, 2023, in Tualatin, Oregon. Born on August 28, 1948, in Hood River, Oregon, Steve lived a life dedicated to learning and teaching, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Steve graduated from Tigard High School in 1956, attended the University of Phoenix, and earned a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification. He was a lifetime learner, constantly expanding his knowledge and skills.
Steve served on active duty in the Marine Corp from 1966 to 1970 as a radio repairman. He was honored with the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. His dedication and service to his country were commendable.
Throughout his career, Steve held various jobs. He repaired radios during his military service, worked on oscilloscopes at Tektronix, taught computer basics, worked on Rodgers pipe organs, and even delivered pizzas. His diverse range of experiences showcased his versatility and adaptability.
In his personal life, Steve found joy in playing bridge. He was an active member of the Tualatin Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). It was through his love for bridge that he met his beloved wife, Patty, whom he married on May 6, 2000, in Tigard, Oregon. They played bridge regularly at the Ace of Clubs Bridge Center in Beaverton, Oregon, until the pandemic forced them to pause their games.
Steve had a zest for life. He enjoyed learning about a variety of topics, playing competitive bridge, listening to all kinds of music, reading both fiction and non-fiction, playing poker with his friends, and savoring a good dinner and a movie.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. Moody; his brothers, Tim Moody and Norman Moody; and his cousins Marilyn Fishwick, Treena Martin, Keith Horn, Sue Chamberlin, Joe Horn, and Rob Horn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Joan Moody.
A Committal with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 2:30 at Willamette National Cemetery. At 5:00 a Celebration of Life will follow at the Tualatin VFW Post, where friends and family can gather to honor and remember Steve's life.
Steve's legacy will live on through the memories of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a dedicated learner, a skilled teacher, and a compassionate friend. His impact on the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
