She was born in Mason City, Nebraska on February 5th, 1937. Phyllis graduated from Girls Poly Tech and received her high school diploma. She also received a scholarship for beauty school. She was married to Gary Bristow on September 28, 1958.
Phyllis worked as a beautician for Gaylock Beauty Shop and then went on to own her own salon, Village Beauty Shop. She received her Beautician License in the state of Oregon. Phyllis had a passion for bowling, camping and collecting Snoopy items.
Survivors include her children, Debra DeShazer and Terry Bristow; grandchildren, Tiffany Nelson, Levi DeShazer, Joseph DeShazer and step-grandson, Jacob DeShazer and siblings, Ivan Petersen, Carol Nixon and Linda Reese.
