Our wonderful Patriarch, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Husband, Brother, and proud American, surrounded by family, passed thru the veil of this world to those loved ones that have proceeded him on Sunday March 5th, 2023.
Pat was born in Lucedale, Mississippi to Flossie May Ivey Patterson and Burien Nathaniel Patterson. He had one brother Burt (Diane) and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Pat married Jackie Manning Patterson and together they had 6 children, Curtis (Signe), Craig (Kedra), Ken (Alison), Marianne (Noel) Rea, Gary (Dalynn), Elizabethe (Patrick) Reynolds.
Pat was a grandfather to 21 grandchildren and Great Grandfather to 32 great grandchildren. As a young boy, he was always trying new things to help his family, from mowing lawns to selling Ice cream from his bicycle that he and his grandfather redesigned. When he was 6 years old his life was blessed with a little brother. The family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he attended Humes High School along with Elvis Presley. After school he moved to Chicago, Illinois to work with his uncles. This is where he joined the Air Force. After basic training he was transferred to Williams Air Force base in Chandler Arizona, this is where he met the love of his life Jackie Manning. Pat joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March 1956, he and Jackie were Married April 12, 1956, and were sealed for Time and all Eternity in October 1961. Pat went to work for the City of Mesa Arizona and made a lot of lifetime friends.
During this time, they were blessed with 4 boys and 1 daughter, and he would go on to teach his children to be hard working and resourceful.
Pat longed to be near to his southern roots, he and Jackie moved his family to Jackson Mississippi, to be close to his family. All was going well until hurricane Camile came thru and Jackie and the children said, “We are out of here”. The family then moved happily back to Mesa where Pat, worked for Evans Steel and attended Mesa Community college where he received his associate degree. He later moved the family to Taylor Arizona where he worked for the Snowflake Paper mill, In the engineering department. While there, they were blessed to have their final child a little daughter who came prematurely and due to her health, the family needed to move to Oregon, where he worked for SW Hopper Company. There he traveled the world fixing Paper Mill equipment. After 13 years of traveling, he decided to retire and start his own Construction Company, and Pat Patterson Construction was born. Pat enjoyed building and repairing homes for others and seeing their visions and dreams coming true.
When his health declined, he again retired, to start a new dream of serving two Missions for the Church. A Temple Mission in the Portland Oregon Temple and as Transient Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pat has made an impression on everyone he met, he enjoyed serving the Lord and his family. Pat was preceded in death by his mother, Flossie and father Burien Patterson, grandson Andrew Burien Patterson, great grandson Andrew Lay Patterson and daughter-in-law Signe Patterson.
