Mary was born to John and Gertrude (Waggoner) Hurlburt in Toledo, Ohio. Mary and her sisters and brother were raised in Toledo. During World War II, she was voted most likely for a Marine Veteran to come home to after his service. She attended college at Merry College and at the University of Toledo. After high school, Mercy married Richard Krabill. They settled in Toledo where Mary was a homemaker and mother to their son, Tim. In 1953, Mary became a grade school teacher. The family moved to the Detroit area several years later. While living in Detroit, Mary married Jim Robbins. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Detroit. Mary retired from teaching after thirty six years. Mary and Jim moved to the Portland area in 1986 to be near Tim and his family. She was a substitute teacher at St. Anthony School in Tigard for a number of years. Mary and Jim travelled to Mexico, Europe, and the Oregon Coast. Mary loved to collect antiques, roller skate, dance, play the piano and watch sports. Jim passed away in 1997. Mary is survived by her son, Tim and his wife, Bauphal, grandchildren, Timmy, Victoria and Christina, siblings, Virginia, Norman and Velda as well as sister-in-law, Kathleen. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the St. Anthony School at 9905 S.W. McKenzie St., Tigard, Oregon 97223.
