Judy was born November 6, 1947 in Janesville, WI, the first child of Walter and Naomi Baker. Judy moved, with her parents, to Oregon as a teenager, and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1966. Following high school, Judy attended Oregon State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Upon completion of her degree, she worked briefly for Portland Public Schools, before accepting a position with First Interstate Bank where she developed the software behind the first debit/check cards. She also actively participated in non-profits including Easter Seals and Shriner's Hospital, and gave herself fully to the activities of her children including Beaverton HS theater, debate and swimming. She was a leader in Boy Scouts of America where she was popular and enthusiastic leader. She was invited to both Cub Scout and Boy Scout Wood Badge, was a camp director at Camp Ireland and was awarded the Silver Beaver by Columbia Pacific Council.
In her later years, Judy came to really enjoy being active, and she participated in Aquarobics, Boomer Fitness and other fitness classes daily at the local recreation centers. She also ran in many charity runs, and made health and fitness a vital part of her life. In the very last year's of her life, Judy was blessed by two grandsons, who she doted on. She was often heard around her fitness classes talking about how excited she was to be a grandmother, as she passed their pictures around.
Judith Ann Baker will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her sister Janet Baker, her son John Maggi, her son Nicholas Maggi and his wife Kelsey Maggi, and their children Jacob Maggi and Isaac Maggi. A funeral service is scheduled for November 2, 2015 at 11 am at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard, Oregon.
