Jane was the only child born on November 17, 1925 in Portland, Oregon to Oscar and Georgiana (Volberding) Muralt. She was raised in SE Portland and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1944. She met her husband, Byron at Central Christian Church. They were married on September 27, 1946 at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church and were happily married for 67 years.
Jane and Byron welcomed a son and a daughter. As a family they enjoyed many camping trips all over Oregon and Washington, and one large trip all the way to Mexico in their camper (stopping in Disneyland of course). The family also enjoyed an annual trip for quite some time to Rockaway Beach. Once the kids were grown Jane and Byron continued their travels all the way above the Arctic Circle and all the way south to Guatemala. In 1973 they began to travel internationally, visiting over 50 foreign countries. Highlighted international trips were an African Safari, The Middle East and Russia.
When stateside, Jane enjoyed dancing (ball room, square & line), hosting dinner parties, gardening, cross country skiing, and golfing. She was also a very talented seamstress and knitter. She made Darlene many dresses and made Byron a lovely knitted sweater. During the holidays she would craft Christmas ornaments that she would gift to her family and friends.
She was employed as the Secretary-Treasurer for an electrical contractor company. The apples of Jane’s eye were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was delighted just last week to hear that her newest great granddaughter will be named Charlotte when she joins the family in February.
She was a member of the Nile, Broadmoor Women’s Club and the Oregon Symphony Association. For many years she volunteered at Providence Medical Center and was also an active participant in her church.
