Jackie was born in Manassa, Colorado, to Cora Faye Guymon Manning and Kenneth Rex Manning. She had one sister, Barbara (Farrel) Porter and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Jackie married Montel (Pat) Patterson, and together they had 6 children; Curtis (Signe), Craig (Kedra), Ken (Alison), Marianne (Noel) Rea, Gary (Dalynn), and Elizabethe (Patrick) Reynolds.
Jackie was the grandmother to 21 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 37 great-grandchildren. As a young girl, Jackie grew up on a dairy ranch that her family had, and she would help her father herd the cows in at milking time. Jackie was 10 years old when her sister Babara joined the family. Jackie enjoyed playing and teaching her the farm life. Her parents decided to move to Mesa, Arizona when Jackie was 16 years old. Jackie got a job as a car hop at a local Tasty Freeze. Jackie later graduated from Mesa High and started a job as a bank teller at a local bank. Her very good friend would soon set her up on a blind date where she would meet her eternal companion, Pat. Pat and Jackie were married on April 12, 1957, and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Temple in October 1961. Jackie loved the Gospel and lived it to the fullest every day. While living in Mesa, she and Pat were blessed with 5 children who tested her faith and patience and made life fun and exciting. After many years, Pat's job took them to Taylor, Arizona, where Jackie embraced the small-town life. While there, Jackie was blessed with her final child, a daughter who came prematurely and, due to her health, they would move to Lake Oswego, Oregon, where she would finish raising her children in her beloved home of 47 years. Jackie has always enjoyed serving others and through her many church callings she served the young and the old with her cooking, sewing and many other talents given her. After being a homemaker, she would enter the working world to help support her youngest son while he served a mission for the church where she used her banking talents working for Mainlander Properties in the bookkeeping department. She would retire after 10 years. Jackie and Pat started their own construction company "Pat Patterson Construction". She was co-owner and office manager for 20 plus years. They decided at their age to finally retire and enjoy the quiet life. That would have to wait as she and Pat were called to serve a Temple Mission in the Portland Temple Oregon Mission. Jackie and Pat served diligently and once their mission was complete, they again looked forward to a relaxing retirement and again they were called to serve as Transient missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They both enjoyed helping and serving those in need and learned to love as Christ did. Jackie finally got to relax in her golden years and would once again give service and love to her husband as his health declined and would send him home to his Heavenly Father. Jackie enjoyed her last year peacefully enjoying her children and grandchildren and making memories that will live on. Jackie was and will always be the example of service and compassion to all those she met along her journey.
Jackie was preceded in death by her mother Cora, her father Rex Manning, husband Montel (Pat) Patterson, grandson Andrew Burien Patterson, great grandson Andrew Lay Patterson, and daughter-in-law Signe Patterson.
