I never had the pleasure of meeting Ian in person but worked with him via phone and email on several projects for West Linn Paper. Ian was always a pleasure to work with - professional and very capable but also warm and funny. He is missed.

Donna and family,
I am so glad we were able to catch up at the beach recently.  There are no words to express our deepest sympathy. We didn't know Ian well but after reading a few entries Gentleman is what comes to mind.
If there is anything we can do please don't hesitate to ask.

Donna and family, I think what I most remember about Ian in those days at Willamette were our field biology adventures. The memory of his laughter and unbridled enthusiasm as we ran across the fields and banks of the Willamette and Santiam rivers chasing dragonflies with our raised nets still resonates with me.  What fun we had.  Ian was a good man and I am glad to have known him.  His memorial was a tribute to his caring and compassion as an h.r.person and most importantly as a husband and father.  Take care.

I had not seen Ian for many years and was truly looking forward to "catching up" with him at our upcoming Lincoln 50th reunion. He was always so positive and always the gentleman (as much as could be expected from a high school kid). I am sorry for your loss. We will all miss him.

Donna and family....I was a secretary in the HR Department before I retired and worked for and with Ian before I retired ..and the mill closed.  I also spent time with him during labor negotiations while I was the secretary for the labor negotiations team.  I have always had a lot of admiration and respect for him.....So sorry for your loss!!!  Ian was very special!!  Bernice Schuchardt

That handsome young man with his hand on the tiller... that's the fine fellow I met at WU nearly fifty years ago. Fraternity brothers, friends, roommates... those were the best of times; then we went on with our lives. Looks like Ian had a lot to be proud of in his life - a loving wife and two beautiful children - and apparently the guy was quite a fisherman! So very sorry to hear of his passing and sending love and sympathy to Donna and all those who are feeling his loss.

Ian has always been a great coworker and friend to many. Very patient and empathetic, and eager to teach and provide guidance to many who were trying to build a career or become a better person. Our sincere condolences to his family.

Ian will be missed dearly here at West Linn Paper.  He was a great manager and mentor.  I remember sometimes complaining about walking into Ian's office with a simple "yes or no" question, and walking out with so many details my mind was spinning for days.  Now I will miss those conversations.  Thanks for everything Ian.

He was the epitome of professionalism, compassion and caring and will be deeply missed. I am sure his personal life parrelled his professional life in being a great husband and father and express my sympathies to his family.

My deepest condolences for the family and friends of Ian. Although I have only worked in the mill for 2 years now, I did get to know him and have always had the greatest amount of respect for him. Not only was he a great man to have in charge, I found him to be funny and very kind. Always positive and concerned for the safety and well being of his workers. The mill is not the same and on the floor all of us are feeling the loss. I am so very saddened and my prayers for Ian's family and friends.

Ian was one of a kind. A gentle, caring soul like none other. My deepest condolences to the Dunlap family and to the entire West Linn Paper Organization during this time of sadness and grief.
