Bibianne Scheckla died February 15th at Meridian Park Hospital at the age of 86. Bibianne was born May 21, 1931 in Legal, Alberta, and moved with her family to Victoria, British Columbia when she was 8 years old. Bibianne graduated from St. Anne’s Academy in Victoria in 1949. After graduating, Bibianne moved to Tigard later in 1949 with her first husband, Galen Clark. In 1955, after the birth of her first three children, Bibianne started working in the banking industry.
Bibianne met the love of her life, Ken Scheckla, in 1960, and they married on August 4, 1966 in Stevenson, Washington. Soon thereafter, she became a naturalized US citizen on September 8, 1966. In 1970, Bibianne helped open the branch of First National Bank of Oregon in King City. She worked in the banking industry at the King City branch until her retirement in 1986.
Bibianne was a person of deep faith, and she was a very active member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Tigard for over 60 years. She volunteered for and donated to several organizations in the greater Tigard area. She volunteered with St. Vincent De Paul for over 20 years, was very active with the Catholic Daughters of America, as well as several community political action groups. She orchestrated her husband Ken Scheckla’s successful election campaigns for Tigard City Council. Together, Ken and Bibianne were pillars of the Tigard community and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her sons Larry Clark, Kevin Clark, and Wade Scheckla, daughter Kay Ann Nutt, sister Solange French, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and an enormous number of friends. Bibianne was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Scheckla, her parents, John and Agnes Peltier, and sister Gabrielle Beal.
A Rosary will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in Tigard Thursday, February 22nd, at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Tigard Saturday, February 24th at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Tigard, and a celebration of Bibianne’s life will also immediately follow the Mass at St. Anthony’s church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul at St. Anthony’s Church. The address to send donations is 9905 S.W. McKenzie St., Tigard Oregon 97223.
