Zuvill was born on January 26, 1950, to Soledad Pedraza and Pacifico Nono in Tacloban, Samar, Philippines. She attended Samar High School and graduated from Pasay City High School, then earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the Philippine Normal University in Manila.
She worked for 13 years as an elementary school teacher before joining the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) of the Philippines, ultimately achieving the rank of supervising general insurance specialist. During this time, she earned a master’s in public administration from the Philippine Women’s University in 1996.
Zuvill married Remigio “Meo” Asilo Ramirez on May 16, 1976. They have two children, Mark Redentor Nono Ramirez and Charmaine Joy Nono Ramirez-Miller.
After moving to the United States with her family, she made a home in Amherst, Massachusetts, and worked as a personal banker and then as a home health aide. She volunteered with the Amherst Survival Center, helping Western Massachusetts residents meet their basic needs, and was a member of the Association of Marian Helpers. Zuvill made many friends in the area from the Philippines and served one term as vice president of the Bayanihan Association of America, a nonprofit organization for Filipino-Americans.
After retiring, Zuvill moved to Colorado to be closer to her children and her only grandchild, Teddy. She enjoyed exploring her new home state and also took the opportunity to see more of the world. Her travels, always with her husband and often with family and close friends, took her to Italy, England, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Russia, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Thailand, and Cambodia, just to name a few. She loved taking pictures and loved having her picture taken in beautiful and interesting locations.
In 2023, amid her ongoing treatment, Zuvill was grateful to be able to visit the Philippines with her grandson on his first trip to the country. Teddy witnessed firsthand his grandma’s generosity as she met with former coworkers, old friends, and relatives, treating them to meals and trips and giving gifts that she took care to bring from the United States.
For her last birthday, Zuvill celebrated with a trip to Mexico City, where she thoroughly enjoyed the religious, historic, and cultural sites; the cuisine; and even the nightlife with her husband and daughter.
Zuvill lived life to the fullest and remained positive until the very end. She was always up for new adventures and trying new restaurants. She was an enthusiastic and talented ballroom dancer and singer. She loved shopping, and we will remember her for her sense of fashion and style. Family was very important to her, and she found ways to connect and show her love even halfway across the world, putting social media to good use. Zuvill was incredibly supportive of her children and grandson, in school, work, and life, and was proud of all their accomplishments, making sure to let them and everybody else know.
She was a person of strong faith, and was a faithful parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church in Westminster.
Zuvill is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Meo; daughter, Charmaine; son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Naomi Seldin; grandson, Teddy; sisters Patria (Salah) Alshiekh and Leticia (Igmedio) Buenaseda; brother Eddie (Rosie) Nono; and many dear nephews and nieces and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nimfasol (Antonio) Muñoz and Fe Corazon (Danny) Verdeflor; brother, Vizudar (Ofelia) Nono; and son-in-law, Stephen Ramirez-Miller.
A celebration of life for Zuvilla will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
