Susan Merrick, 63 of Westminster, CO passed away on June 21, 2018. Sue was born in Salina, Kansas, on February 1, 1955. Her family moved to Colorado shortly after and she remained a resident of Westminster and Broomfield for almost her entire life. She spent many years in the accounting field, working with Merrick Accounting Service and North Metro Community Services.
Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. Many try to surround themselves with loved ones, well she had a natural ability to connect with family and friends that loved her dearly. She was artistic when it came to creating costumes or pulling off a kids birthday party and had a natural talent for photography. Gardening brought her serenity while traveling offered her a sense of adventure (even if it came to dreaming about what could be). She was the no-nonsense type and was always there for a friend. She had a passion and love for animals, especially for the numerous dogs she raised and cared for in her lifetime. Sue had a genuine spirit, bright personality and would light up any room with her smile. What she leaves behind is not the tears, but the smiles, the stories and the love her family and friends will always cherish.
Sue is survived by her children, Nathan (Megan) Leake and Jennifer Leake; Granddaughter Reagan Prouty; Siblings, Tim (Mary) Merrick and Martha (Steve) Pleva; Nephew and Niece, Toby (Erin) Merrick and Bridget (Amadeo) Donofrio. Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Jo Merrick.
“There is so much to say. I cannot find the words. Except for these. I love you.”
