Ruth Ellen McNulty, age 95, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020. Ruth was born June 25, 1925 in Mounds City, Missouri to Emma and Charles McNulty. She had 10 brothers and sisters.
She and her family lived on a farm in Mounds City, Missouri. They were sustenance farmers during the Great Depression. Ruth and her sister, Norma, and brother, Andy, eventually left Missouri and headed to Denver, CO to find work.
She was known for being "Salt of the Earth" and having a strong work ethic. Ruth worked in catering and food service for Hilton Hotels for 15 years and never missed a day.
Ruth was also known for being opinionated and ornery, all the while also being a warm and caring person. She helped her family any way she could, often helping those down on their luck in a "grandmotherly" way. Family remained important her entire life. She often took vacations back to Missouri to spend time with her family. Throughout her life she loved doing all that she could with her family, including her beloved fishing trips with her sister, Norma and her family. Ruth also loved playing cards, especially Rummy and Pitch. She loved all things baseball and was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan for life. While being known as "persnickety" about foods, she loved sweets and coffee. She often began meals with dessert; her favorite being Banana Cream Pie. She enjoyed her coffee with cream and sugar until the very end of her life.
