Ruth was a homemaker until 1968. She then started working for the State of Colorado as a switchboard operator at the Capital. She soon was promoted to the Assistant Chief Operator. In 1969, she went to Front Range Community College and was the very 1st Switchboard Operator. She later retired in 1987.
Ruth grew up in Peoria, Illinois and later moved to Wichita, Kansas. This is where she met and married (1950) Donald “Don” Payne Davis. They moved to Thornton, Colorado in 1954. Thornton is where they decided to stay and raise their family.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Donald ‘Don” Payne Davis, both of her children, Son Stanly “Ray” Davis, Daughter Jenna Lynn (Davis) Shaw, Daughter in Law, Karla Davis, 2 grandsons Travis Gene Shaw, and Dylan Payne Shaw, 1 great grandchild Jameson Gene Payne Shaw. Her parents Jesse LeRoy Brown, Mother Constance Edith (Hamlin) Brown, Brothers Emerson LeRoy Brown, Wallace Calvin Brown and Wesley Hamlin Brown. Sisters Constance Etna (Brown) Scott, Florence Louise (Brown) Schmidt, Edith Etheleen (Brown) Andrews.
Ruth is survived by her 3 granddaughters, Christine (Scott) Gordon, Misti Shaw, Chelsea (John) Madrid. 2 great granddaughters Cannon Gordon, Jessa Gordon. Son in Law Rusty Shaw. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. As well as many, many great friends.
The services for Ruth will be held Friday March 27, 2020. Visitation will be held from 9am to 12pm. The burial service will follow per selected family only.
