He was preceded in death by brother Wayne, sister Jan, son Doug, and granddaughter Mellony. Ron is survived by his wife Carleen, three children Robbin (Brady), Robert "Bo" (Carmen) and Kristina (Norman), seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Ron served 8 years (and 12 days) in the U.S. Army as a military police officer from 1959 to 1967, serving time in both Italy and Korea. Ron also served as a law enforcement officer in Montrose, Gunnison and Mt. Crested Butte. He worked in petroleum transportation beginning as a driver, accruing over a million miles through the mountains, and then moved on to dispatch and terminal manager. Ron was most proud of establishing the out-of-state trucking company DATS in Denver including being on-call 24/7. He retired from this position in 2006.
He fished locally the first 30 days straight of his retirement. He loved fishing; fly, lake, pond and stream. He and Carleen enjoyed rides into the mountains and road trips visiting family out of state, with Ron driving every mile. An Alaskan cruise was a highlight they shared and included the blessing of seeing Mt. Mackinlay. Ron also enjoyed hunting for many years and working with his son at PreparednessGEAR.
He was generous with his time to family and friends, including volunteering at the 9 News Health Fair and at Crossroads Church-Northglenn. He enjoyed cooking and chauffeuring others.
He fought a good fight for six months against stage 4 prostate cancer leaning on his LORD Jesus Christ, never complaining one step of the way.
