Born in Durango in 1931, he attended Sacred Heart Church and Durango Public Schools. After graduation from DHS, he joined the United States Marine Corps and eventually was stationed in Korea during the war.
Rey was a teacher and counselor in Durango Public Schools for 30 years. He coached, drove a bus, and did Summer maintenance and painting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Emma; sister, Cecila; and a daughter, Mary Jo.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Rey Jr. (Sonia), Andrew (Bayli), and Tom (Alyssa); daughters, Diane, and Teresa (Sam); five granddaughters and one grandson; sisters, Josephine and Karmen; and brothers, Clair and Matt.
A Committal Service for Rey will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022, 1:30pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "B", 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80236. All friends and family welcome.
