With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beautiful boy. Preston passed away suddenly on December 21st, 2022, at 3:35 pm. Preston Jaxson Wayne Sobczak (Duckie) was born on September 8th, 2015, in Butte, Montana. There was something special about this boy from day one. He had gone through so much in his short seven years of life. He showed all of us what it means to fight. He touched many people in so many ways. There wasn’t a nurse or Dr who didn’t love him. Preston never played by the rules and often left the doctors scratching their heads, wondering what this boy was up to. We always said he had many girlfriends because of the nurses fawning over him. When he was a baby, they often argued amongst themselves about who would take him for that shift. When he came home from the hospital for the first time after arriving in Colorado on July 12th, 2016, the home nurses were no different in falling for him. He loved it when they cuddled, read, and did sensory play with him. What he didn’t like was grandma leaving to run errands and would play some tricks on the nurses which would keep them on their toes. He also did this to his papa on occasion. As soon as he knew grandma was home, all was right in his little world. We always told people that Duckie had an ornery side. Especially when it came to trach care and physical therapy. Trach care was just more of not wanting the trach ties fastened. Physical therapy was pretending to sleep or desating because he didn’t want to participate. He would argue with his occupational therapist about stretching in the early days. On August 28th, 2019, his grandma and papa officially adopted Duckie. It was one of the happiest days we had with him. He was a really sweet boy that will be missed by many. He was indeed a warrior and fought until the very end.
Preston is survived by his parents, Ivan and Brenda Burch. His birth mom Brooke Sobczak she gave us this precious boy. He is also survived by his little sister Katryna Parmar and his little brother Christopher Parmar. Grandparents Mark and Dawn Sobczak and bonus grandparents Neal and Cindy Pontius is also known as GMA Cinny, Uncle Nathan, and aunt Jen Salazar. Aunt Kim Sobczak-Bender. Uncle Daniel Sobczak and aunt Courtney Melson. Also survived by his bonus uncle Erich Howe. He is survived by many cousins who all adored and loved him. He is also survived by many great aunts and uncles. We want to give special recognition to three of his nurses as they had become a part of our family and cared for Preston as if he was their own. Danielle Johnson, Jennifer Bershard, and Emily Brundage. They will forever be a part of our family.
Preston was preceded in death by his Uncle Mason Bender. Great grandparents, Donald and Frances Harvey. John and Dorothy Sobczak Glen and Viola Burch
