Mitzi K. Inouye, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away November 26, 2023 in Aurora, Colorado. She was born April 27, 1925 in Bingham, Utah, to the late Kyuta and Ito Kishiyama.
Mitzi was growing up during the time when all the Japanese Americans were being rounded up in the USA and placed into concentration camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She, along with her three siblings and parents survived a harrowing journey from California to Greeley, Colorado, where they did share cropping. She later moved to Denver, Colorado, where she lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Iacino. Mitzi was the nanny to their children while she attended college.
Mitzi loved to go fishing, hiking 12,000 and 14,000 foot mountains, gambling in Blackhawk and raising a large garden, which she shared with friends and family.
Mitzi is survived by her son, Steve Inouye and daughter, Donna Otake; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held December 8, 2023 at 10am in the chapel of Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St. in Thornton.
A memorial luncheon will be held at the Golden Coral on Grant St. after the services.
