Mary L. Hittle of Westminster, Colorado died Monday, June 25, 2012. She was 83 years old. Mary was born in Cheyenne Wells, CO on July 25, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband Max C. Hittle in March 2012. She is survived by her daughters Connie (John) Gawthrop and Nancy (Chris) Lynch and sister Sandra (Elvin) McKee. Max L. Peterson, her brother, preceded her in death in November 2011. Mary is also survived by her 2 granddaughters Crystal (David) Hyman and Jenny (Steven) Woytek and her 5 great-grandchildren Holly, Hayden, and Hunter Hyman and Drew and Brett Woytek.
Mary was the oldest daughter of Mike and Irene Peterson. She was raised in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado where she graduated from Cheyenne County High School in 1946. Mary attended Colorado Women’s College, graduating with a business degree in 1948. She returned to Cheyenne Wells and married her high school sweetheart, Max Hittle in June of 1948. The newlyweds moved to the Denver area where they’ve lived for the past 63 years.
Mary was a mother, homemaker and bookkeeper. She was very active in her church and was the pianist and organist for many years. Mary treasured the time she spent with her many friends and family, especially her five great grandchildren. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and cheering every Sunday for the Denver Broncos. Mary and her husband Max traveled extensively in their later years, and Hawaii was always their favorite destination.
