Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and good friend to many.
Born in Jansen, CO Margaret spent her childhood with her Mother, step-father and siblings. After graduating from Trinidad High School, she moved to Arvada, CO in 1949 and lived with her aunt and uncle and worked at Tasty Foods (potato chip factory). She met and married Joseph G. Rivera from Lafayette, CO in 1951 in a Catholic Wedding ceremony at The Shrine of St. Anne.
Four very lucky children were born to Margaret and Joe, Rebecca, Connie, Gilbert and Beth. The family resided in Thornton, CO until 1963 when they moved to Northglenn, CO. Margaret was very active in the Christian education of her children and drove the school bus for District #1 in Adams County from 1962 - 1984. She was a friend and advisor to many of the students and coworkers. She cherished the years helping students achieve their goals in school. Margaret was also a catechism teacher at Holy Cross Catholic Church where she and the family attended while living in Thornton.
Upon moving to Northglenn, Margaret, Joe and family were part of the founding members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church and parish. As a parishioner Margaret attended daily mass when possible and participated in several ministries: Rosary Makers, knitting for seniors group, Divine Mercy Prayer Group and various catechetical classes and other ministries.
Margaret passed peacefully into the arms of Lord and Blessed Mother Mary on January 14, 2014 after complications from heart failure and respiratory issues. She is survived by not only her husband and children but also by a daughter-in-law and son-in-law, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers.
Margaret will be sorely missed, not only as a wife, mother and grandmother but as friends to many admirers and acquaintances for her compassion, sound advise, common sense, encouragement and quick wit.
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, Thornton, CO.
