Manuel V. Montoya

Manuel V. Montoya Jr, age 71 of Thornton, Colorado passed away on Friday, May 19,2023 in Thornton, Colorado. He was born June 10,1951 in Denver, Colorado to Manuel and Victoria Montoya. It was on May 14,1977 that Manuel married Martha H Lucero.

Manuel was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army and he also served in the Navy. He retired from the King Soopers Produce warehouse after 25 years. He has lived in Thornton and Brighton Colorado. Accomplishments of his, were the pride of raising his family and seeing the accomplishments in them. He enjoyed gardening of many different types such as: tomatoes, jalapenos, green chile, cucumbers and other mixtures. He has always had a love for music, especially on Sunday morning he would listen to a New Mexico radio station and liked singers such as Darren Cordova. He was known to have a bold personality but with a big heart of love, especially for family and those who knew him well.

Manuel is survived by his children: Celestino, Alejandro and Hilaria Montoya; his siblings Sam, James, and Jerald Montoya along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Manuel is preceded in death by his wife Martha and his parents Manuel and Victoria Montoya.

A visitation for Manuel will be held Wednesday, June 7,2023 from 4:30pm to 6pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229. A funeral service will take place the following day on Thursday June 8,2023 at 10:00 am, also at Olinger Highland Mortuary. The committal service will follow the funeral at 12pm taking place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, Colorado 80236.

Family and guests are encouraged to meet at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area "A" by 11:45AM, and remain in their vehicles until directed otherwise. Military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.

A reception will follow the committal service at VFW located at 5220 W Warren Ave, Denver, Colorado 80227. Reception will be a potluck style, family and guests are encouraged to bring their favorite foods.
