Beloved son of Joseph Francis Berger and Leonie (Himmesoete) Berger (preceded in death). Preceded in death by wife, Jane; sister, Mary (Harry) Raihl and brothers Eugene (Dorothy) and Melvin Berger, and brother-in-law Bill Smith.
Survived by brother James (Judith) Berger and sisters Judith (Warren) Johnson, Jeanne Smith, and sister in-law Mary Berger .
Loving father of #1) Teresa (Ed) Larkin; #2) Joseph F. (Mary) Berger; #3) Dennis Berger; #4) Ruth (Scott) Coyle; #5) Maria Berger; #6) Luke Berger; #7) Sheila (Patrick) Bennett; #8) Christopher Berger; #9) Damian Berger and #10) Vincent Berger. Dad loved to tell the doctors and nurses that he called us by number because he would confuse our names.
Devoted Grandfather of Sean (Melissa) Larkin, Fr. Brian Larkin, Trent (Casey Brown) Larkin; Jakob Berger; Victor, Brendan & Patrick Coyle; Daniel Martin, Ryan Bennett; Alyssa & Kaylee Berger. Blessed by great-grandchildren Claira Jane, Joseph, John & Lucia Larkin.
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
After a courageous eight month battle against leukemia, he passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Divine Mercy Supportive Care for their kind and compassionate care during this time.
To our many friends, neighbors and co-workers who have given their love and support to Dad and his family during this journey, we give you our unending thanks and gratitude, especially Steve Fischel and Paul & Loris LeGron.
He will be remembered as a man of faith and family who loved to share a good story and laugh. He was a manager at Mountain Bell (US West) for over 40 years. He also volunteered for numerous organizations such Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and Colorado Catholic Academy (BINGO!). He served on the Broomfield City Council and Planning & Zoning Committee. He was a founding member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield, Colorado and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Latin Mass Parish in Littleton, Colorado.
He lived a long life, a good life and had a good death. He has taken the next step in his walk with Jesus Christ.
