Joan, 
I have thought of you so often  and I know how blessed I was to have known you just for these past few years. I remember so many conversations and and a few phone messages you left me to insist on what a high calling it is to be a teacher, and whether or not I go back into the classroom,  you will be one of my favorite teachers ever! You knew how to make people feel loved, and you knew how to pull smiles out just by sharing your passions and investing into others'. Your legacy will live on as we always remember you encourgaging Paul to follow his dreams and how proud of him you were for doing just that. We will teach Owen the power of that encouragement you knew how to bestow so freely upon everyone you came in contact with. Thank you for being a great example for me - I will always be grateful!

From the first day we met you welcomed me as part of the family with arms wide open! I charish the memories and the many conversations about anything and everything! You were an amazing woman inside and out and I am thankful everyday to have had you in my life. You brought so much joy and laughter to those around you and you will be greatly missed! Thank you for having those wonderful kids as well, I couldn't ask for a more amazing mother-in-law in Denise. You will always and forever be in our hearts! Love you and miss you Crazy Grandma! :)

We have so many fond memories of your mother. OH, how she made me laugh! She always lit up a room with her zest for fashion and her beautiful spirit!  I always enjoyed seeing her when we would visit. Her memory will always be with us. We all want you to know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Joan,
How you are going to be missed.  I want to thank you for giving your beautiful daughter, Denise to my son, Dan. When they were married, so many voiced concerns that they were too young.  But we both new differently...that was 32yrs ago.  They made us grandmas to two beautiful boys (men now) and every  time we were together, they were a joy to share stories about them.  
I remember all the birthday parties when we had so much to talk about.  Since we both worked with children in different capacities, we tried to solve all the problems...but no one ever listened to us.
I remember the phone calls where we talked about our grandsons, of course, Shakley products, Christmas, religion, and anything else that came up.  
I know that you will be so missed by your children.  They will carry on without you because you have shown them how.
Rest in peace, Joan you have earned it.

You have always been a little bit of sunshine in my life....I'm proud to have known you...

Mom, you taught so many people so many things! Your wonderful spirit and spunk is what I will remember most! Your years working at Gilliam Detention were a highlight for you, always wanting to help those kids get back on track and doing all you could to make that happen. From telling us kids to "go out and play" or making us eat that awful Shaklee protein powder on our cereal EVERY morning, to playing baseball with your grandkids- you loved us and we loved you! Now you can rest peacefully. I LOVE YOU MOM!
