Joan was born on March 16th, 1951 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Louis and Evelyn (Jensen) Torrey. Soon to move to Colorado, Joan grew up in Northglenn, CO and ultimately pursued her love for the medical field becoming a surgical technician. On September 11th, 1976, she married the love of her life and best friend, Stanley Ray Farmer. They lovingly raised 1 daughter, Laura Thompson, and 2 sons, Christian Farmer and Nick Farmer.
Joan had many passions in life and although bound with Multiple Sclerosis for many years, her outpouring of love and joy for life, her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, family and dogs gave her the very light she needed to live. When Joan wasn't actively involved in her friend's or family's lives, she could be found coming up with new ways to design and decorate her home. She was known for her bright, caring and warm personality and her uncanny strength and determination.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, Louis, her mother, Evelyn, and her 3 sisters, Nancy, Carol and Gayle. She is survived and loved deeply by her husband of 42 years, Stan, her 3 children, Laura (husband Lance), Christian and Nick (wife Nichole), her 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alivia, Benjamin and Wyatt, and several cousins, nieces and nephews
.
