Janice Irene Vickery, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Wednesday, August 25th, at the age of 81. She was born in Geary, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1939. She is preceded in death by father Chester Ray Richards, mother Rhoma Marie (Day) Richards, brother Chester Ray Richards Jr, and brother in laws, Leroy and Donald Vickery. She met Alvin Vickery through their church (as preteens) in Wichita, Kansas, where they married August 18th, 1957. While in Wichita, they had five children together and then moved to Northglenn, Colorado in 1969. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Alvin Vickery, brother Marion (Joan) Richards, and sister Annetta Vickery. Children Julie (Kirk) Johnsen-Campbell, Russell (Nancy), Tony (Kathy), Sherrie Dunn, Terry (Tracey) Vickery. Twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren (with two more on the way).
Janice raised 5 children and then proceeded to work and retire from the medical field as a receptionist and bookkeeper for a pediatrician. Janice was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church. There, she followed her passion for singing and music, as a director and participant in the choir. As well as often playing the piano for services.
Memorial will be held on September 4th, at 10:00am, at the Community of Christ Church, 9501 Lou Drive, Thornton, CO, 80260.
