Janice's journey began as the daughter of Ralph and Millie Crabtree Morris, and she grew alongside her brothers, Orville, Jerry, and Paul, all of whom preceded her in death. Her formative years in Denver, CO, were marked by her graduation, after which she began working at Pepsi-Cola. It was in Denver that she met the love of her life, Joseph Caruso, with whom she united in marriage. Their union blessed Janice with a loving and thriving family.
After supporting her family and raising three wonderful children, Janice worked at the medical office for Dr. Halley until his retirement and later worked as a receptionist at a local bank where she retired.
Janice’s legacy is carried on by her children, Rae Ann (Julio) Garcia, Mike Caruso, and Terrie (Brandt) Smith; her stepsons, Mark and Mike Powell; her six adored grandchildren, Christina, Julio, Amy, Danny, David, and Dillon; her twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Each one of them will forever cherish the hand-crocheted blankets, quilts, and the Christmas stockings she lovingly made for them.
Janice always enjoyed crocheting or quilting. She loved bowling and participated in the bowling league for many years in Ottumwa. Her love of nature was evident through the careful tending of her flower garden, which blossomed under her care.
After Joseph's passing, Janice relocated to Iowa in 2005. Her presence was a gift, and though she has journeyed on, her spirit remains, woven into the fabric of many lives.
