Janet E. Hedges

Janet E Hedges was born on September 2, 1940 in Fort Collins, Colorado and passed with her husband and children by her side on February 5, 2022 in Thornton, Colorado. She was a devoted sister, loving mother, proud grandmother, dedicated aunt, enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society and a loyal friend to many. She enjoyed scrapbooking, leaving behind numerous books filled with photos, stories, and memories that will be cherished for years to come. Jan was a lover and a fighter, and will be truly missed.

Jan graduated from Cheyenne, Wyoming’s Central High School in 1958 and moved to Denver, Colorado shortly after. She met the love of her life, Marshall, in 1963, and they were happily married on June 27, 1964. They welcomed daughter, Shelly, in 1966 and son, Mike, in 1968, both of whom Jan claimed as her greatest accomplishments. In 1994, Jan became a proud grandmother to Jordyn, closely followed by Justin in 1998. For the past 27 years, her greatest joy has been experiencing life through their eyes as they grew up and lived their dreams.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Schwartz, of Cheyenne, WY. Jan is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Marshall Hedges, of Thornton, CO; daughter Shelly Johnson (Bill) of Thornton, CO; son Mike Hedges (Kim) of Thornton, CO; granddaughter Jordyn Johnson of Thornton, CO; grandson Justin Johnson of Granger, IN; and three siblings, Joyce Treff (Fred) of Lincoln, CA, John Schwartz (Diane) of Peoria, AZ, and Steve Schwartz of Cheyenne, WY along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Jan’s memory be directed to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service for Janet will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
