So many memories I can think of, but the one that he never let me forget was the time he came over to visit us in Pueblo, and I walked out of the shower with only my towel wrapped around me. He yells up the stairs at me, "Hi, Kim!" I stop mid stride to my bedroom, dripping soak and wet in my bath towel. I  look over and see him waiving at me from the  bottom of the stairs.😳  I couldn't run across the hall fast enough to get to my bedroom!🏃‍♀️ He never let me forget that day, and I promise, I'll never forget that day either. Love you, Uncle Hammer!!

Our deepest condolences to all of you may God be at you side during these difficult days. Losing a loved one is the greatest heartache that never goes away. There are good days and lots of bad days and on those bad days just try to think of the great memories you had together and know he's in your heart, and his blood runs through your veins.
In closing , let yourself grieve . It's ok.

My heart goes out to the family. Henry was always a great guy to me when I saw him. Very friendly and always into sports. RIP Henry 

I am an ex coworker of Henry's at the Arvada/ Public Service office. Henry a lineman and I was a Gas Fitter. We had many great conversations together and he had a great sense of humor. I remember when our managers decided to put two linemen together with two gas fitters to go install gas and electric services to new homes. Henry was with John Bass, another lineman, the two of them were a great pleasure to work with. One particular time with me as the backhoe operator I was able to get back at Henry for his kiddng around with me while we worked. I caught him unaware, moving the backhoe bucket close to him and then startling him by rattling the bucket a little. I can still see his face. I don't think he had a bad bone in his body. Great ball player too! Thanks for your friendship Henry.

I was so sorry to hear of Henry's passing.  I knew Henry in the 70's and 80's.  My wife, kids and I moved to San Diego in 1992, so I haven't talked or saw Henry except the one time we happened to run in to each other at Sea World San Diego.  Henry and I played a lot of racquet ball back in the day.  I knew Henry's family and have fond memories of his father (bird whistles and Bradford Park track) his mother (her tamales were killer), Don (high school all-state athlete), and of course my friend, Harvey.  I have been having flash backs of memories of times with Henry.  Great guy.  Condolences from SoCal.

He was a Great Athlete and Competitor always with a Winning Spirit, Seeing Henry and Shirley Anywhere was Always a Pleasure. The over 60 baseball community lost one of our own on April 4th when Henry Montoya passed away unexpectedly. Henry was a longtime member of the A’s team and was usually found behind the plate performing the duties of catcher. Henry was someone who you always looked forward to seeing at the ballpark.  He always had a great smile, was never down or negative, and never seemed to be having a down day. I was told once that people won’t always remember what you say, but they will remember how your words made them feel, and Henry always made everyone around him feel better. We will miss Henry. May he rest in peace. Your safe at home baseball brother.

This is Mike Martinez.  Henry and I go back 50 plus years.  Were both from Pueblo, Co.  We played fast pitch together and against each other.  We worked for CFI steel Co together.  Henry is my brother.  We shared many good and not so good moments together.  He married Shirley, and she was the Love of his life.   He always talked fondly of his wife, son, daughter and grandson.  When we heard of Henry death the both of us Mike and Theresa held each other and cried.  We will miss our brother.

Hard to believe that Henry has passed. I’ve known Henry and Shirley over 40 years and shared many good times at work and socializing with them. He was always fun to be around and I can’t recall him ever being mad. He will be missed greatly. 

We shared lots of good Times on the ballfield in Walsenburg ⚾️ I remember our trip to Vegas  John Henry needed a sleeved shirt  to get into the dollar 1. 99 steak dinner he wasn't going to miss out in the deal so he wore my pink souvenir sleeved shirt 😊 we always had lots of laughs back in the day at Henry's work out basement gym 😀  Henry your smile will always be a cherished memory so glad we got to see you at the Ameristar 🎰 you sure will  be missed by many 🌈 see you on the other side friend 🙏rest easy John Henry  😇 hugs to Shirley n kids

Henry and I shared a lot of good times working  together and playing ball.  I can't remember Henry ever having a bad day , which made my day better.  Henry will be missed.

Henry always stayed in touch.  He  would call me or text me every 6-8 weeks to check on Ersi & I to see we were doing ok
What a smile. He loved his family, friends, relatives & softball teammates.
He was proud of the fact that he was still playing catcher at his age.  He was a good man.  He leaves a big void in our lives

Henry was the sweetest man and so proud of his kids.  Desirae was in my class in first and third grades.  Henry and his co-workers came to school and set up an electrical diorama to talk to kids about safety around electricity.  It is a fond memory of mine.  You will be missed, sir. ❤️

If you attended school with Henry you know he never bought one lunch, why . He had a six pack and would wager you could not knock the breath out of him, he never lost. In addition, he had a hand grip that was unbelievable. A good person and good friend. RIP

My prayers and condolences go out to Henry and his family.  It was great to have gotten to know Henry as baseball teammates for several years.  He was always cheerful and full of energy and loved the sport of baseball!  I was always impressed with his readiness to catch any and every game and every inning if you needed him to, and can’t say enough of his favorite catcher’s mitt that I called the “Pan”.  He apparently had used it for many years including when he told me he caught his brother in fast pitch softball.  I’m going to miss his warm smile and presence in the dugout and in the games this year, but will always remember him as a great guy and teammate!
