Guenther Meinrad Riess, age 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep January 4th 2015 at his Erie, Colorado home. Born in Wels, Austria, “Gun” immigrated to the United States with his family in 1956, settling in California. Guenther studied art and received a scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute, in Los Angeles, CA where he pursued a lifelong career in the arts. His three-dimensional constructions are held in corporate collections around the world, including Tropical Music, IBM, ITT, GE, MCI, HBO, Volvo and Peavey Electronics. His work has been collected by Senators, Celebrities, Actors, Congressmen, and Captains of Industry. Guenther is survived by two sisters, Helga and Hilda and their families, daughter Kristal, son Aaron, and grandaughter Stephanie. He lived for many years in Ridgefield, CT, Key Largo, FL, Gold Canyon, AZ, and most recently Erie, CO. A celebration of his life will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
