Gloria Jean Bruns, was born in Deshler Nebraska on October 26, 1926. She married Alvin Bruns, after he was discharged from the army, in May 1946. Three boys, Murray, David and Terry were born over the next 8 years. From Nebraska, they moved to Colorado in 1954 and bought a home in Thornton in 1955 where they raised their family.
Gloria worked as a meat wrapper at the Miller’s grocery stores for over 20 years before retiring in her 50’s. She kept busy by making crafts with her sister-in-law and going to craft shows and of course playing bingo. Family was always number one for her and she never missed a birthday, holiday or any excuse to get the family together.
Gloria sold the family home after Alvin passed away in 1985 and moved into a Yorktown townhouse in the old community of Welby just a few miles south of her old home. In 2014, Terry her youngest son, moved in and eventually began taking care of her until he passed away in May 2020. At the age of 94 Gloria began requiring more help and moved into Park Regency, an assisted living facility in Thornton. Around Thanksgiving she contracted Covid 19 and after a short stay in the hospital she passed away on November 30, 2020.
She loved her family, friends and her Mt. Zion church family. Gloria is survived by her sons Murray from Somerset Kentucky and David of Brighton, grandchildren Gregory Bruns of Troy Montana, Bryan Bruns residing in Krakhow Poland EU, Kelli Bruns of Montrose Colorado and her sister, Madelene Casper of Tampa Florida, and daughter in-law Sharon Bruns of Thornton.
