Ernest J. Martinez Sr or Ernie as most know him, was born on March 28th, 1948, in Alamosa, Colorado. Ernie was meet in heaven with both his parents Rebecca and Mike Martinez. On February 4th, 2025, "on his moms' birthday". As well as Tino Martinez & Eileen Gallegos. Ernie is survived by his sisters; Emma Lucero, Louise Bowman, and Benita Vigil, and his brothers; Mike Martinez, Tom Martinez, Harold Martinez, and Alex Martinez. He was also survived by his children Emilia Pina, and her husband Joe Pina, E.J Martinez with his wife Nuvia Martinez, Frank Gonzales, and Selena Nicks. Alongside his grandchildren Andre and Ren Martinez, Tyvon, Junior, and Sally Pina, Alea & Zaine Gonzales, Julian, and Tythan Nicks, and Avery Olsen. With his great grand-children being Alani Pina, and Eva Nicks.
Ernie Martinez was baptized into the catholic church in Alamosa Colorado, where he attended public schools. He earned a bachelor of arts at Adams State College. Ernie started his career as a laborer in the union working on projects like the Eisenhower Tunnel and various other projects. He was married to Ramona Serna for fourteen years. He found himself working for Joe Ulibarri at Ulibarri construction, which then became Tierra contractors. One of his most memorable projects was working at Denver International Airport, as a Contract Administrator, overseeing contracts for contractors building the airport. After many years he went off to start his own business, he was known throughout the construction industry and worked on multiple successful projects.
Our dad enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a proud Denver Bronco Season ticket holder for more than thirty years. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by many. We look forward to seeing you all as we celebrate our father's journey into the afterlife.
