Eric Matthew (Thomas) Trujillo was born on Monday, May 3, 1982 at 3:45 a.m. at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Eric is survived by his wife, Shannon; his two children, Jaidyn (12) and Brenden (7); his parents Bernie and Virginia Trujillo; his sister, Corrine Trujillo; and his brother Stephen Trujillo. Eric is also survived by his Grandmother, Bennie Castellanos; his Godmother, Juanita Romero as well as his four nephews, six nieces, three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Eric grew up in Littleton, Colorado. He attended Leawood Elementary School, Ken-Caryl Middle School and graduated from Columbine High School in 2001. Upon graduation, Eric enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served six years of active duty, including a combat mission in Iraq. Eric was honorably discharged from the military in December 2007 and returned to Colorado to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a firefighter. Eric worked alongside his father as a Deputy Sheriff for the City and County of Denver for three years before being hired by the Denver Fire Department where he served the department for over 10 years.
Eric married his wife Shannon on August 28, 2004. Eric and Shannon lived in Italy together for over a year while Eric was stationed at Aviano Air Base. Eric and Shannon loved to travel and shared many adventures together. Together they visited 12 countries, including 21 cities throughout Europe and traveled to 11 States. Eric and Shannon welcomed their first child, Jaidyn Dorothy on April 21, 2009. Jaidyn was daddy’s girl from day one, they had a very special bond that could not be broken. Their son, Brenden Alexander was born on January 5, 2014. Eric could not have been more excited to have a son to share in his excitement for sports and adventure. As a family, Eric loved to vacation and make lasting memories. Eric coached both of his children in Lacrosse and Flag Football. Eric and his family loved the outdoors - camping, boating and hiking were some of their favorite things to do together. Eric had a love for sports, the gym, UFC/MMA and mountain biking. Throughout Eric’s childhood and teenage years, he played soccer, football and rugby.
Eric was an incredible man. A loving father and husband who was adored by his family and friends. Eric was a hard worker and family man. Eric was a proud Veteran who loved serving his Country and community throughout his entire adult life. He will be missed by so many people.
