Elsie Marie Rice/Quillen was born on October 4, 1928 in Sterling, Colorado to the late, Henry Eagle Rice and Estella Rice. They lived in the Rice family farmhouse. She grew up working on this family farm raising crops and hogs. Elsie was one of three children, younger sister Lois, and a brother Harold who passed as an infant. In 1946 Elsie moved to Denver to go to a business college. She worked for the May company running their posting machines.
During Memorial day weekend Elsie went home to visit. A friend offered a night out; a blind date. Elsie met Dale on September 6, 1947. They were married November 23, 1947.
They couple lived in various locations and worked various jobs together and separately. While Dale was working for the Slumberger Company, they were transferred to Farmington, New Mexico. Dale and Elsie adopted four children, the oldest was 6 years: Sharon, Norman, Ginger and Kenneth. Dale was transferred back to Denver. Elsie and Dale spent much of their retirement traveling with their grandkids. They also enjoyed serving others with a Food Program they ran for 10 years. The couple focused on distributing food to Seniors that are shut in’s and needy individuals throughout the area.
Elise is preceded in death by: Her husband Dale Junior Quillen,her father, Henry Eagle Rice, her mother, Estella Rice; her brother: Harold; and her younger sister Lois. He leaves to cherish his memory her children: Sharon, Norman, Ginger and Kenneth; grandchildren: Lisa, Jonathan, Melony, Andrea, Larry, April, Jeremiah, Jason and Chantille; great grandchildren: Summer, Denise, Gabby, Antonio, Elijah, Rebecca, Maddox, Katherine, Annalieh, Connal, Sawyer, Neamiah and; 13 great great grandchildren and many friends.
