Dorothy married Donald Ransom on June 10, 1950 in Manhattan, Kansas. She is survived by her children Kathleen Welter, Rebecca Ransom Ferguson, Carole Ransom Sumption and David Ransom. Dorothy has ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Ransom.
Dorothy was a long time member of the Broomfield United Methodist Church. She was the church organist for over 54 years. Other associations she belonged to were the Broomfield Music Teachers Association, The P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Broomfield council on the Art and Humanities.

A funeral service for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Broomfield United Methodist church, 545 W 10th Ave, Broomfield, Colorado 80020. A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado 80229.
